Save the date: 2016 Academic Venue Show Announced
Venuemasters, the consortium representing around 70 academic venues, today announced that The Academic Venue Show will take place on Wednesday 11 May 2016 between 09:30 – 15:30 at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, Central London.
The one-day event is the UK’s only exhibition dedicated to showcasing the meeting and accommodation facilities offered by academic institutions, giving visitors the opportunity to discuss their event needs with representatives from academic venues around the country.
The Royal Horticultural Halls mark a new venue for the annual event, offering a fantastic open plan exhibition space, central refreshment area, and a stunning glass vaulted ceiling providing plenty of natural daylight.
The new central London venue has excellent transport links, with Victoria, Pimlico and St James tube stations a short walk away, in addition to Victoria Train Station.
“We’re really looking forward to the Academic Venue Show 2016,” said Jo Mitchell, Marketing Manager at Venuemasters. “Over half of the stands have already been sold, with a fantastic range of venues from across the country exhibiting. The Horticultural Halls will provide a fabulous backdrop for the Show, giving visitors plenty of space to arrange meetings with venue representatives.”
A high-profile speaker will join up to 40 exhibitors, providing attendees with a source of inspiration for their upcoming events, while giving event organisers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to find out about the fantastic facilities available at academic venues.
The Academic Venue Show 2016 is free to attend for event organisers and registration will open in January 2016, so keep a look out for more information coming soon.
Well Met receives £1.1m of enquiries from Academic Venue Show
Well Met, the conference office at Leeds Beckett University reports a record £1.1m of enquiries received at this year’s Academic Venue Show. This figure represents the best return in the nine years that Well Met has been exhibiting at the Show.
The show, held at London’s ILEC Conference Centre on 20 May 2015, and organised by Venuemasters, has just announced results of its visitor survey, indicating that 65% of attendees said they will or probably will be using the exhibitor venues within the next 12 months and 89% rated their overall experience of the Show as excellent or good.
Kate Davis, Head of Business Development for Campus and Residential Services at Leeds Beckett University comments:
“The Academic Venue Show has moved from strength to strength in recent years, and this uplift in enquiries reflects the show itself, as well as changes which Well Met has implemented over the last year – including a new brand, which clearly differentiates our conferencing, hospitality and accommodation offer and a restructure of the team to create Conference Host positions, both of which make it easier for the customer from the outset.
Whilst we are delighted to receive such a high volume of enquiries, it’s also really important to recognise the profile and importance the show achieves for the academic venue sector as a whole.”
Jo Mitchell, Marketing Manager at Venuemasters comments:
“The Show is a great way for us to raise the profile of academic venues and also increase event organisers understanding of the wide range of facilities that are available to hire. We received fantastic feedback from exhibitors at this year’s Show and we congratulate Well Met on their success and we look forward to announcing some exciting plans for the 2016 Show soon.”
Well Met is the first academic venue to achieve the Gold Accredited in Meetings status awarded by the Meetings Industry Association, and acknowledged as one of the most distinctive conference sites in the UK, which provided the perfect back-drop for the Big Social Media Show. With an award-winning portfolio, Well Met provides state of the art facilities and the perfect destination for conferences, meetings, exhibitions, dinners, filming and team building events.
